Sora 2 makes fake video harder to spot

Sora 2 raises the stakes for identifying what is real and what was created by AI. AI-generated video now gets a double boost: higher quality that makes it harder to detect, and wider distribution through a social network built around videos.
The result is fabricated footage of current events appearing within moments of the event itself, like “The rush to Elias,” posted by Dana Green on TikTok. It is already difficult to tell what is real and what was generated.
For now, Sora adds a watermark. Its logo appears at one point in the video. But that does little when a video changes how people understand reality and creates false beliefs, because only people familiar with Sora recognize the symbol. The watermark feels more like a way to say, “We did everything we could.”
