I visualized the GitHub profiles of 10 developers. The numbers are wild:
- Linus Torvalds: 226K stars from 6 repos. Six. One of them is Linux.
- Sindre Sorhus: 947 projects and 989K stars. Nearly a million. One person, working full-time on open source with no employer.
- Tj Holowaychuk: 214 projects and 135K stars. He built Express.js, Koa, Commander, Mocha, Pug, and basically half of early Node.js.
- Evan You: Created Vue.js and Vite across 73 repos. Quality over quantity, redefined.
- Addy Osmani: 173 projects and 57K stars. Engineering Lead at Google Chrome. He literally wrote the book on JavaScript design patterns.
- Anthony Fu: 205 projects and 61K stars. Vitest, Slidev, UnoCSS, and dozens of Vue/Vite tools. He ships at inhuman speed.
- Michael Paulson: 191 projects and 40K stars. He went from Netflix engineer to the biggest dev content creator and open sources everything.
- Dan Abramov: 54 projects and 39K stars. He co-created Redux and React's new docs. Now he is building at Bluesky.
- Kent C. Dodds: 344 projects and 39K stars. Testing Library, Epic React, and Remix contributor.
- shadcndesign.com: 145 repos, with shadcn/ui used by half the internet. It proved that copy-paste components beat npm packages.
