What happened when ChatGPT managed a budget for 30 days

A LiveMint writer used ChatGPT to manage all his finances for 30 days. He gave the AI three sets of data:
- Monthly income
- Fixed expenses
- Every transaction from the previous month
ChatGPT immediately created a simple budget:
- 50% for essential needs
- 30% for wants
- 20% for savings
It then analyzed his spending and found several problems. Food delivery was consuming almost 25% of his income, so it suggested planning meals in advance and limiting deliveries to 2 per week. It also found a duplicate streaming subscription he had forgotten about and suggested moving some savings from his checking account into an index-tracking fund.
After one month, he was saving 18% more than usual, spending less on unnecessary purchases, and felt a completely new sense of control over his money.
It did not change his life. It gave him a personal assistant that could examine his habits without emotion or judgment and ask one simple question: “Are you sure this is what you want to do with your money?”
