Blue Elephant turns a lost handwriting into a free font

Fonton created Blue Elephant from the handwriting of Liron Atia, founder of the band HaPil HaKachol. After a ski accident, Liron could no longer write, so the font’s letters were sampled from personal letters he had written to friends before 2005.
When Liron saw the new font, he asked for it to be freely available: “It would be a beautiful way to come full circle… This handwriting was almost dead, and now it belongs to everyone.”
Blue Elephant is now available to download for free. It produces pleasant, highly readable text and carries a moving story with it.
The band’s Hebrew name, HaPil HaKachol, is also a play on “the blue pill,” named after the blue medication pill Liron, the band’s lead singer, had to take during his rehabilitation.
